Jules Joseph Charitable and Educational Scholarship Program & Application

Guidelines

The Jules Joseph Charitable and Educational Scholarship Program serves as a reflection of our ancestors' desire for the pursuit of higher education. Under the Program, scholarships will be awarded to qualified high school seniors who have been accepted into an educational institution for higher learning within an Undergraduate and/or Graduate (1st post-baccalaureate degree) program.

Scholarships:

High school seniors accepted into a 2- or 4-year college or technical program
Graduates accepted into a post-baccalaureate training program pursuing their 1st post-baccalaureate degree

Program Guidelines & Priorities:

*Seeking graduating seniors with a record of volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities and participation in extracurricular school activities.

*Applicants must have documentation of high school AND documented plan/acceptance to attend a 2- or 4-year college/university or technical school.

*Scholarship funds will be paid at the yearly Jules Joseph Family Reunion banquet pending receipt of all necessary documents to include a) an official transcript with academic seal from graduating high school or copy of undergraduate obtained, b) copy of the letter of acceptance from the 2- or 4-year college/university, technical school, or graduate program, and c) submission of personal statement/essay (if pursuing initial degree only). It will be the student's responsibility to submit all documents to the Foundation (by email or regular mail) by the June 15, 2024 deadline. If document(s) cannot be obtained or submitted prior to, or at the yearly reunion, arrangements must be made to have documents sent to the address listed below prior to the start of the Fall semester to receive funds, or funds may be held until the next scheduled family reunion.

*Application deadline is June 15, 2024. Late application consideration will be delayed.

*The applications will be reviewed and recipients selected by the scholarship committee. The scholarships will be awarded in July if all documents are reviewed by the family reunion (3rd weekend in July annually).

Essay Topic Selections:

1. Describe how family involvement in educational pursuits has impacted your decision to pursue education beyond the skills afforded via high school education.

2. "Getting through the crowd at the bottom is one of the most difficult parts of getting to the top." Describe the philosophy behind this statement as it applies to your impending collegiate and/or technical school experience.

3. "How do closed doors create open opportunities?" Describe how your education will create opportunities for advancement in your life.

Write a 250-word essay in response to at least one (1) of the topics above

I hereby understand that, if chosen as a scholarship recipient, my presence at the family reunion banquet is desired and continuing attendance when able at subsequent family reunions is highly encouraged.

I hereby understand I will not submit this application without all required documents and supporting information. Incomplete applications or applications that do not meet eligibility criteria will not be considered for this scholarship.
